In the Deputy District Attorney series, this is the ODAA (Oregon District Attorneys Association) Child Support Liaison position which serves to advance the interests of the Oregon District Attorney’s Association within the Oregon Child Support Program (CSP).   The position deals with high level child support policy issues and assists in developing policy, and advocating for the interests of the ODAA, with senior level management in the Oregon Child Support Program.   The position plays a vital role in the operation of ODAA and the Oregon Child Support Program in supporting children and families in Oregon. 



Works under the supervision of the Lane County District Attorney and directly reports to the ODAA. This is an at-will position that serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.



Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.


  1. Advocates for and communicates the interests of county District Attorney child support divisions to Oregon Child Support Program partners.  Serves in a leadership position that requires strong leadership, advocacy, negotiation, interpersonal, writing, communication and policy development skills.  Meets regularly with the statewide Program Director to discuss, negotiate and resolve issues of significance to the Child Support Program and ODAA. 
  2. Consults and communicates regularly with the ODAA, ODAA Executive Director, ODAA Child Support Oversight Committee, or any other entity or person that may be designated by the ODAA Executive Committee. Collectively represents all District Attorney offices, through the ODAA, in the statewide Child Support Program.  Representation includes, but is not limited to, child support program policy, legislation, and rulemaking discussions and meetings.  The position is a member of the Child Support Program leadership team.
  3. Facilitates cooperation, communication and consensus building among DA offices, CSP and other program partners in policy development and operational issues. Analyzes and communicates information on important legal and policy issues, administrative rules, legislation, and operational issues to ODAA and statewide DA offices. 
  4. Acts as a resource for DA field staff by communicating information and participating in staffing Program meetings on behalf of the DA offices.
  5. Participates in legislation and rule-making related to the Child Support Program.
  6. Facilitates and organizes monthly ODAA Child Support Oversight meetings.  Takes, distributes and maintains minutes for the monthly meetings. 
  7. Sponsors, develops, and plans conferences and DA trainings as appropriate.  Attends other state and national child support conferences as appropriate. 
  8. Reports to the ODAA Executive Committee and attends monthly ODAA Executive meeting.
  9. Serves as a facilitator, consensus builder and liaison to the ODAA Oversight Committee and other statewide District Attorney Offices on child support issues.
  10. Communicates with DA offices statewide to discuss CSP direction, operations, and policies. Assists in analysis of legal and policy issues, seeks consensus on said issues, and advocates for the positions adopted. 



  1. Graduation from an accredited school of law; AND
  2. Must be a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar; AND
  3. Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience as a licensed attorney.  


  • Must pass a criminal history background investigation, which includes fingerprinting;
  • Must possess a current driver’s license in the applicant’s state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Lane County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services.



Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and exercise sound judgment and discretion.  Must be able to analyze complex policy issues.
